Bayern Munich could join Barcelona in the hunt for unsettled Manchester United striker Robin van Persie

The Bavarian giants are looking to strengthen upfront this January with manager Pep Guardiola concerned by Arjen Robben's recent injury, and by a lack of a genuine alternative to Mario Mandzukic upfront.

"Manchester United have reportedly told Barcelona that they will have to pay around £37million for unsettled striker Robin van Persie."

With Barcelona reportedly being told that van Persie could be available for £37million, SportsDirect News now understands that Bayern Munich are also ready to put in a bid for him when the transfer window re-opens.
The Dutchman has been one of the best players in the Premier League over the last few seasons, finishing as top scorer for the last two years in a row, but he is said to be unhappy with United's performances so far this campaign.
New manager David Moyes has not yet managed to get the team performing for him since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season, and a move to either Barcelona or Bayern may seem tempting for the former Arsenal captain at this point.
With Wayne Rooney's future also remaining uncertain, the departure of van Persie would certainly be a huge blow for United and Moyes.
